I think I know why. It's one of the most controversial episodes because of Homer's characterisation and how he treats Frank Grimes, and how dark the episode is, making it disturbing and unenjoyable. Starman would certainly make a few friends in the SNPP, as they gave low reviews; www.snpp.com/episodes/4F19^ Look at the reviews near the bottom at the page. There are low as Fs, and yet few in the A range. They all mostly lead to my explination.

^ Remember, that was the review when it aired. I'm doubt she'd rate Kill The Alligator or Run or Homer vs. Dignity over this nowadays.

I get how people hate it, it is a little wacky and stuff... anyway, I like this episode, thought it was really funny.
