Let The Right One In This is a beautifully shot love story with a small difference - the girl is a monstrous 12 year old vampire. It's so incredibly well done though, the two leads are so endearing and you do end up rooting for the vampire throughout the film. The cinematography was wonderful, there's a lot of cold, distant shots which really work well with the snowy winter depicted in the film. The acting was top notch, especially from the kids. I'm disgusted to learn an American remake is being made by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield). This is one film that definitely does not need to be remade. A+

Bolt This was a fairly by the numbers animated film with not a lot of originality to it but I can't deny that it's a hell of a lot of fun. I could see the ending coming from a mile away but that really didn't detract from my enjoyment of the film. They seemed to borrow quite a few story elements from Toy Story, I noticed many similarities but I managed to overlook them. The animation was absolutely stunning, I was floored by many of the sequences, namely the chase sequence at the start. I also loved the 2D bits throughout the film and during the end credits. I am generally sick of animated films with an animal as a lead character but this was an exception. Great movie. A-

2 Days In Paris This was pretty good. It felt a little too long even though it was only 90 mins and the timeline felt way longer than 2 days. There was a lot of aimless scenes that didn't really do it for me. The film had it's bright spots though with quite a few amusing moments. Adam Goldberg was great, though I've always enjoyed him. And it was interesting that Julie Delpy (writer/director/actress) wrote her character rather unsympathetically. I very much enjoyed the location, Paris is a beautiful city that I'd love to visit and I'm glad they didn't go down the cliche route of showing the Paris landmarks and such. I guess it helps that Delpy is French. Good film. B

M This is an interesting tale of a group of criminals taking the law into their own hands by attempting to capture a child murderer in pre-war Germany. The film is very well directed and it's hard to believe this was released in 1931, only in the first few years of "talkie" films. Peter Lorre was outstanding, especially in the last 10 minutes. I couldn't help but notice the absence of many foley sound effects throughout the movie, obviously that process hadn't been created yet. There were lots of gaps of pure silence and it was just strange. A-
