5 - The Simpsons - "Lisa's Substitute"

While this episode is immensely overrated, and while other episodes like "Moaning Lisa", "Life on the Fast Lane", "Bart Gets an F", "'Round Springfield", "Lisa on Ice" and "Marge's Son Poisoning" are pretty much just as emotional at times, "Lisa's Substitute" does feature some of the truest emotion in the series' history.



4 - Blackadder - "Goodbyeee..."

I grew up watching Season 3 of this great show, so I only saw this episode in the last two years or so, and I was amazed. I thought this was just a light-hearted comedy, but this episode proved that it's more than that. I'm mainly referring to the final scene of the show, which is surprisingly poignant, and involves Blackadder, Baldrick, and George over the top for "The big push" and getting shot.



3 - The Ren and Stimpy Show - "Stimpy's First Fart"

"Uhh, Mr. Starman? I have a crazy friend who says an episode about a fart can't be emotional. Is he crazy?" "Nooo, just ignorant. You see your crazy friend never heard of "Great storytelling and art direction".

I had never seen this episode until I bought the DVD. After watching it, I knew immediately that it was my favourite episode of all time, and it still is to this day. It features to most visually beautiful, powerful animation I've ever seen on a TV show. It's emotional because...it just is. Stimpy feels empty without his...*ahem*...fart. When the episode revisits the scene in the first episode where Stimpy's at the door and Ren opens it is one of my favourite moments on the show.



2 - Friends - "The Last One"

This episode made me cry by simply knowing my favourite live-action show in the world is coming to an end forever. In a way, it's even more emotional than 'Jurassic Bark'.



1 - Futurama - "Jurassic Bark"

Before seeing this, I didn't think it was possible to make a cartoon emotional. It's features undoubtedly the truest emotion ever featured in a television show. I rank it as high as my favourite Simpsons episode for simply being so powerful in every way.

"The Luck Of The Fryrish" and "Mother Simpson" are the only times I cried in an animated episode.

Jurrasic Bark, Luck of the Fryrish are the most emotional, but there's tonnes more for The Simpsons

I nearly fricked cried during the end montage of Do No Harm on Lost. It was so sad but so happy at the same time. It was odd...

I ALWAYS cry in Lost Season 1 when they launch the raft. I have no idea why, but it just hits me and then I'm all over the place.

I was watching Baywatch last night and one of the main characters died and they showed this hilariously over the top montage of the character lifeguarding (in slow motion of course) with typical sappy music in the background. It was the most lolworthy cliche montage I've seen in a long time. I guess it qualifies for this thread as it's supposed to be emotional but srsly bahahahaha

The finale of Doctor Who Season 2.



God, what a massive kick in the balls. Or ovaries, depending on the viewer... Just when you think it's gonna be okay, Rose and the Doctor are going to save the day once again, BAM, Rose slips into another dimension to be lost forever. They both lean against the barrier, Rose sobbing so much she must've come close to dehydrating, and the Doctor looking as though both his hearts had been torn to pieces.

As if that wasn't sad enough, we are then shown Rose and her family a short while later, living in the alternate dimension, when Rose is led to a vision of the Doctor that he is projecting from our dimension. They talk and Rose breaks down all over again.

ROSE
(sobbing in earnest now)
Am I ever gonna see you again?

THE DOCTOR
(quietly, and so, so sorry)
You can't.

ROSE
What're you gonna do?

THE DOCTOR
Oh, I've got the TARDIS. Same old life. Last of the Time Lords.

ROSE
On your own?

(The Doctor nods silently, still watching her with compassion.)

ROSE (CONT'D)
I lo-- (Chokes) I love you.

THE DOCTOR
(softly)
Quite right, too.
(Rose grins through tears. The Doctor gazes at her)
And I suppose... if it's one last chance to say it...
(A pause.)
Rose Tyler-

And then he disappears. And they both cry. SO - FREAKIN' - HARD. And every viewer cried with them.

I don't really watch TV anymore, but I do remember that episode and it was pretty sad. Doctor Who is a decent show, and I really liked Rose's character so that made it all the more emotional.

I cried so freaking hard, it was so sad. The Season 3 and 4 finales were totally heartbreaking too... but I'll let you guys digest this one first

Oh now that I'm thinking about Pokemon.. the episode where Pikachu was gonna leave Ash behind and stay with the other Pikachu. Oh god, I was like 10 years old at the time and I believe I cried like a baby. But Pikachu stayed with Ash! Yay!!

I remember that episode. I was really sad and, at the same time, I wanted to smack that other Pikachu in the face. Silly Pikachu! You can't split up regular Pikachu and Ash!

[Jason]

Haha, yeah! It was annoying. The episode probably wouldn't have been as sad if they didn't include that manipulating sad song that just made me bawl my eyes out
